DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL PARKS
AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION (DNPWC)

Mission: A separate National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Section was created within the Department of Forests in 1972 in order to coordinate the establishment of national parks and wildlife reserves. This office was upgraded to the status of a Department within the Ministry of Forest and Environment in 1980.

The overall goal of the Department is to conserve and manage the rich and diverse biological diversity of Nepal with much emphasis on wildlife and protected areas. The primary objectives of the Department are to conserve the country’s major representative ecosystems, unique natural and cultural heritage, and give protection to the valuable and endangered wildlife species. It also encourages scientific research for the preservation of wild genetic diversity.

ENVIRONMENTAL CAMPS FOR CONSERVATION AWARENESS (ECCA)

NATIONAL TRUST FOR NATURE CONSERVATION

Mission: Established in 1982, the mission of the National Trust for Nature Conservation has been to promote, conserve and manage nature in all its diversity balancing human needs with environment on a sustainable basis for posterity - ensuring maximum community participation with due cognizance of the linkages between economics, environment and ethics through a process in which people are both the principal actors and beneficiaries. CENTRE FOR RURAL TECHNOLOGY (CRT)

BIRD CONSERVATION NEPAL (BCN)

Mission: BCN is the largest and oldest civil society organization dedicated to the interests of ornithologists, bird-watchers and bird conservation in Nepal.  It was established in 1972 to promote an interest in birds among the general public, to encourage basic research on diverse aspects of bird biology and ecology, to identify the major threats to birds' continued survival, and to help conserve birds and their habitat.

WILDLIFE WATCH GROUP (WWG)
